There is a rat
With a prickly back
And he belongs to me
He lives in my garden
Under a log
Where he longs to be
A little hedgehog
It’s really quite odd
This confused animal of mine
This tiny sharp ball
Curled up and small
A wannabe porcupine
But when he gets
To feeling lonely
Off comes the pin cushion
Tied to his back
And he wants to be
My pet again
My little
Needle Rat.
