If you should hear
A little Shakespeare
Perched on your shoulder
And close to your ear
Tweeting Iambic
Pentameter
And you turn to see
A bird in a ruff
Wearing a doublet
Of feathers and fluff
Writing about dreams
And other such stuff
A play for a flock
Of flighty bards
To be performed
In your back yard
A play full of jesters
Kings, queens and guards
Then don’t try to catch him
For the play’s the thing
Allow him to be
And not not to be
Because a caged bard won’t sing.
